Blame Dana?

Dana White is a shit talking ass, but all the unwarranted hate he gets for things that other promotions do is ridiculous. People blame Dana for there being no fighters union, people blame him for lower level fighters making peanuts, they blame him for just about everything that's wrong with MMA. I wrote this response on a forum to all the Dana "QQing" that was going on in response to this video

I'm sure most people who read this will disagree with me, I don't really care. We're all entitled to our own opinions, it's not my fault you want to have an opinion that's wrong.

Can't blame Dana and the Fertita Brothers, they got into a sport where they only have to pay the athletes. The great thing about MMA is there are no employees other than the fighters, there's absolutely no production costs, and it's free to put the events on PPV.

Because it's a relatively new sport it's exempt from any and all taxes. Advertising, marketing, and venue fees are all waved by generous business owners due to the freshness that is MMA.

Why blame them? They saw that they could put on 20 shows a year without having to pay a cent other than paying the fighters. That's smart business. I wish I had known ahead of time that it didn't cost anything run an premiere MMA show. It seems strange though that all of these other shows are going out of business.. or is it just the UFC that gets to run their shows for free?

Put the blame on Dana for there not being a fighters union? I disagree with a lot of shit he does/says, but this isn't on him. Do the fighters want a Union? I don't know... Randy sure does. Who else? I'm sure fighters wouldn't mind, but a lot of these guys seem happy with the UFC. Maybe that's just me though. It seems to me that if Randy cares so much about the fighters he wouldn't charge 300 million dollars a month to train at his gym(s). And he would've stuck to his guns instead of taking $250k to fight Brock Lesnar. Again, maybe that's just me.

As for Pensions/Health Care/etc... where's Affliction's Health Care plan? Does DREAM offer a pension plan to it's fighters? I'm asking, because I don't know. But I'm going to play the "I Highly Doubt They Do" card on this one.

It's not just Dana and the UFC. It's MMA as a whole.

These numbers are a little off as this was their first show and it was absolutely stacked. But even Affliction pays their lower fighters peanuts. Uh oh. Fuck Affliction and Tom Atencio?

I'm curious to see how the payouts look after Affliction 2.

But I'm also curious as to why an organization that is willing to pay Tim Sylvia $800,000 is only willing to pay poor Savant Young $7000 to show?

I don't agree with everything Dana does, the Fitch thing was stupid, shit talking former fighters is stupid, building MMA to a point where we can bitch about what fighters make because the sport is that successful isn't.
