Kimbo fans do not want to believe this man is a can, so they have resorted to calling Work/W3RK/FIX/fixWerk/etc...
I have been racking my brain to try and figure out how the Kimbo Slice fight could possibly have been a werk. It's tough to imagine that EliteXC would want to kill their cash cow, so that's out of the question. It's also unimaginable to think that EliteXC wanted to give Seth Petruzelli a WWE push, so sacrificing Kimbo for his growth is an impossibility.
I was ready to give up, Kimbo went down very easy, but I thought it was because he was an overrated, weak-chinned, can of hype. I was wrong, dead wrong. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you; "The Kimbo Theory."
The Kimbo Theory:
We all know that EliteXC is having money troubles. They couldn't sell out a show in Stockton, the home of unwarranted Super Hero Nick Diaz. The Kimbo/Thompson fight and the entire event itself was a joke, CBS seems to be pulling the plug, EliteXC needs money and needs it bad.
EliteXC bets on Ken in the original fight, knowing Kimbo is going to take a dive, but they notice that multiple people are also betting on Ken, perhaps the odds are too good, perhaps people weren't buying into Kimbo's hype the way EliteXC hoped they would.
So EliteXC pulls Ken from the fight with an "injury." They put in a pink haired lightheavyweight fighter, knowing that only Kimbo Nation will be jumping to go and re-bet on their homie. At the very last minute, EliteXC puts the companies remaining money on Seth Petruzelli by KO.
Seth wins. EliteXC stays afloat. In the rematch, Seth will take the dive. But he will lose by submission. EliteXC will win more money, enough to stay alive for a couple years. But the real kicker is in the rubber match, EliteXC is going to put down $10 million on a double heel hook TKO. The odds of that happening are 1,000,000/1. You do the math.
And that's the story of how Gary and Jared Shaw took over the world.
